For the synonymous words, proseuche, deesis, see PRAYER. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> primarily &#8220;to fall in with, meet with in order to converse;&#8221; then, &#8220;to make petition,&#8221; especially &#8220;to make intercession, plead with a person,&#8221; either for or against others; (a) against, <span class='bible'>Act 25:24<\/span>, &#8220;made suit to (me),&#8221; RV [AV, &#8220;have dealt with (me)&#8221;], i.e., against Paul; in <span class='bible'>Rom 11:2<\/span>, of Elijah in &#8220;pleading&#8221; with God, RV (AV, &#8220;maketh intercession to&#8221;), against Israel; (b) for, in <span class='bible'>Rom 8:27<\/span>, of the intercessory work of the Holy Spirit for the saints; <span class='bible'>Rom 8:34<\/span>, of the similar intercessory work of Christ; so <span class='bible'>Heb 7:25<\/span>.
