In Jer 38:1 his name is written in the contracted form JUCAL (, Yukal&#8217;, Sept. ), and in Jer 38:4 he is styled one of the princes. He was one of the two persons whom Zedekiah sent to request the prophet Jeremiah to pray for the kingdom (<span class='bible'>Jer. 37:3<\/span>) during the time of its final siege by Nebuchadnezzar.
