A city in the uplands of Judah (Jos 15:57), probably to be identified with the modern Khirbet Yakn, on a hill S.W. of Hebron, with tombs, cisterns, and other traces of an ancient town. A neighbouring sanctuary is pointed out as the tomb of Cain. 2. A clan name = the Kenites (wh. see), Num 24:22 (RV [Note: Revised Version.] ), Jdg 4:11 (RVm [Note: Revised Version margin.] ).<\/p>\n<p>W. There is, too, apparently a reference to this place in Num 24:21, Num 24:22 : And he looked on the Kenite, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwelling-place, And thy nest is set in the rock. Nevertheless Kain shall be wasted, Until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.<\/p>\n<p>This place has been very doubtfully identified as the ruin Yukn, a place on a lofty hill Southeast of Hebron, overlooking the wilderness of Judah; the tomb of Cain is shown there.
