From the Arabic kerak &#8220;an even floor,&#8221; and kaa &#8220;a plain.&#8221; Karkaa is a level expanse, the receptacle of a large body of water. The wady Arish receives on the E. the waters of wady el Kureiyeh and its tributaries.
