The same term in the original also signifies &#8221; basket&#8221; (2Ki 10:7; Jer 24:2; probably Psa 86:6). From the passage in 1Sa 2:13-14, it is evident that the kettle was employed for the purpose of preparing the peace-offerings, as it is said (1Sa 2:14), &#8220;All that the flesh-hook brought up the priest took for himself.&#8221; In the various processes of cookery represented on the monuments of Egypt, we frequently see large bronze pots placed over a fire in a similar manner. The same word in 2Ch 35:13 is rendered caldrons, and in Job 41:20 (Hebrew 12), pot.
