He wrote, Die Heldenzeiten des Christenthums (Leipsic, 1856):  Hunmanitdt und Christenthum (Gotha, 1867, 2 volumes):  Die deutsche evangelische Kirche in der Gegenwart (1869):  Civitas Christiana (Wiesbaden, 1874).
