Bishop Lamberton strenuously opposed the encroachments made by king Edward I of  England upon the constitution of Scotland, and contributed his hearty endeavors to set and keep king Robert Bruce upon the Scottish throne. He died in 1328. He built a palace for the bishop of St. Andrews, also ten churches belonging to the diocese, and did a great many other good and noble works.
