LIVING<\/h2>\n<p>The words , ,  and  are all translated &#8216;life,&#8217; but there is a great deal of difference between them.<\/p>\n<p> is the manner or means of life, or subsistence in this world. The poor widow cast in all her living. Mar 12:44. We pray for the powers that be &#8220;that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life.&#8221; 1Ti 2:2. &#8220;No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life.&#8221; 2Ti 2:4. &#8220;The pride of life is not of the Father.&#8221; 1Jn 2:16<\/p>\n<p> denotes more life in its activity and vigour: not merely existence, but existence in relation to a proper sphere. &#8220;In him [Christ] was life.&#8221; Joh 1:4. The Holy Spirit is &#8220;the Spirit of life,&#8221; and the Lord Jesus is &#8220;the Prince of life.&#8221; Rom 8:2; Act 3:15. The word is often used in conjunction with everlasting or eternal, Mat 19:29; Mat 25:46, etc. Of some the Lord said, &#8220;Ye have no life in you,&#8221; Joh 6:53; they were spiritually dead, &#8220;alienated from the life of God.&#8221; Eph 4:18<\/p>\n<p> is life in the sense of the living soul.
