He graduated at Middlebury College in 1821, and in 1822 removed to Columbia, South Carolina; was ordained, and preached six years. He afterwards resided in Georgia, and was a principal founder of Mercer University. In the division of the denomination in 1835, on the missionary question, he advocated that system. He died July 31, 1864. Dr. Mallary published a Life of Mercer, and Soul Prosperity.  Drake, Dict. of Amer.
