He graduated with honor from Harvard College in 1832; studied  theology at the General Theological Seminary, New York city; was ordained deacon and priest by bishop Griswold; became rector of St. Peter&#8217;s Church, Salem, Massachusetts, in May 1837: and of Grace Church, Boston, in 1847, which position he held until his death, March 23, 1862. For a long time he was a member of the standing committee of the diocese, and was prominent in various missionary enterprises. See Amer. Quar.
