{"id":66152,"date":"2022-09-29T02:35:22","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T07:35:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/mckinney-isaac-newton\/"},"modified":"2022-09-29T02:35:22","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T07:35:22","slug":"mckinney-isaac-newton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/mckinney-isaac-newton\/","title":{"rendered":"McKinney, Isaac Newton"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>McKinney, Isaac Newton<\/h2>\n<p>a Presbyterian minister, was born in Erie, Pa., Oct. 20,1828; graduated at Jefferson College in 1848, and in 1849 engaged in teaching in Alabama; in 1852 he entered the theological seminary at Princeton, but because of failing health was obliged to relinquish his studies; in 1856 he accepted a license to preach, and in 1857 was ordained and installed pastor of Montour&#8217;s Church, but soon after accepted an appointment as professor of Latin in his alma mater; in 1862 he was engaged in editing the Presbyterian Banner, and then in originating and conducting the Family Treasure, and died Nov. 20, 1864. Mr. McKinney was a scholar, well versed in language  embracing Latin, Greek, French, and German. As a preacher, he was ardent, direct, and lucid; as a teacher, he had rare capabilities.
