He was educated at the Dissenters&#8217; College at Wymondley, Herts, and served for three years an Independent congregation at Ware, and afterwards one at Leicester. In 1841 he went to London, and established the Nonconformist, a paper in the interests of religious equality, becoming proprietor and editor, a position which he continued to occupy until his death, April 30, 1881.
