He was the minister of a church at Tooting, Surrey, for many years; a learned and ingenious man of considerable ability, and an eminent Christian. His skill in natural science led to his being elected a fellow of the Royal Society. In 1737 he was chosen assistant minister at the Old Jewry Church, where he preached once on the Lord&#8217;s Day for seven  years, but resigned in 1744, and confined himself to Tooting, where he died, much regretted, February 10, 1763.
