After receiving a liberal education at the University of Salamanca, he visited the East, for the purpose of tracing the remains of the philosophy of Trismegistus and Zoroaster; but returned without accomplishing the object of his mission, and died in 1665. His travels were published by his learned friend, Jean Berthet, of the Society of Jesus (Paris, 1665-6, 3 volumes, 4to; reprinted in Holland, 1696, 5 volumes, 12mo). See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog.
