{"id":70672,"date":"2022-09-29T04:39:31","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T09:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/no-wise-in-anywise-in\/"},"modified":"2022-09-29T04:39:31","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T09:39:31","slug":"no-wise-in-anywise-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/no-wise-in-anywise-in\/","title":{"rendered":"No wise (in), Anywise (in)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>No wise (in), Anywise (in)<\/h2>\n<p>  a double negative, strongly expressing a negation, is translated &#8220;in no wise&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Mat 5:18<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Mat 5:20<\/span>, RV (AV, &#8220;in no case&#8221;); <span class='bible'>Mat 10:42<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 18:17<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 6:37<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 13:41<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Rev 21:27<\/span>; in <span class='bible'>Mat 13:14<\/span> (twice, RV; AV, &#8220;not&#8221;); so in <span class='bible'>Mar 9:1<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 9:27<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 4:48<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 28:26<\/span> (twice); <span class='bible'>1Th 4:15<\/span>; in <span class='bible'>Luk 10:19<\/span>, RV &#8220;(nothing) &#8230; in any wise&#8221; (AV, &#8220;by any means&#8221;). <\/p>\n<p> Note: In <span class='bible'>2Th 2:3<\/span>, RV, &#8220;(no man) &#8230; in any wise&#8221; (AV, &#8220;by any means&#8221;), the double negative is me &#8230; medena. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> akin to the adjective oudamos, &#8220;not even one&#8221; (not in the NT), denotes &#8220;by no means, in no wise,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Mat 2:6<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>  lit., &#8220;not altogether,&#8221; i.e., &#8220;wholly not&#8221; (from pas, &#8220;all&#8221;), is rendered &#8220;in no wise&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Rom 3:9<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p> Note: In <span class='bible'>Luk 13:11<\/span> the phrase eis to panteles, lit., &#8220;unto the complete end&#8221; (pas, &#8220;all,&#8221; telos, &#8220;an end&#8221;), i.e., &#8220;completely, utterly,&#8221; preceded by the negative me, is translated &#8220;in no wise&#8221; (&#8220;who was utterly unable to lift herself up&#8221;).
