T. Robertson, Gram. of the Greek NT). In <span class='bible'>1Th 1:10<\/span>, &#8220;even Jesus, which delivereth us from the wrath to come,&#8221; RV, the question whether ek here means &#8220;out of the midst of&#8221; or &#8220;away from,&#8221; is to be determined by some statement of Scripture where the subject is specifically mentioned; this is provided, e.g., in <span class='bible'>1Th 5:9<\/span>, the context of which makes clear that believers are to be delivered from (not &#8220;out of&#8221;) the Divine wrath to be executed on the nations at the end of the present age. (2) For the phrase ek mesou, &#8220;out of the way,&#8221; see MIDST, Note (1), (e). (3) In <span class='bible'>Luk 8:4<\/span>, AV, the phrase kata polin is translated&#8221; out of every city&#8221; (RV, &#8220;of every city,&#8221; to be taken in connection with &#8220;they&#8221;). (4) Ektos, &#8220;outside of,&#8221; is translated &#8220;out of&#8221; in <span class='bible'>2Co 12:2<\/span>; in <span class='bible'>2Co 12:3<\/span> the best mss. have choris, &#8220;apart from,&#8221; RV (AV, ektos, &#8220;out of&#8221;).
