(See Num 13:9) He was one of those sent by Moses to spy the land of promise. His name, if derived from Palat, signifies deliverance. It should seem by 2Sa 23:26, that there must have been a place called Palat, for Helez one of David&#8217;s worthies, is said to be the Paltite or Pelonite. He is the captain of the people of 2 Esdras 5:16 (Phaltiel, margin Psaltiel).
