Greek, , from  (pathos), a feeling or passion, and  (poiein), to make.<\/p>\n<p>This figure is so called, because the writer or speaker manifests some pathos or emotion: or betrays some strong and excited condition of mind.<\/p>\n<p>It is of four kinds:-<\/p>\n<p>Two arising out of pleasure: love and joy. And<\/p>\n<p>Two arising out of pain: hatred and sorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Examples, which are too many and too long to be quoted in full, may be found in Isa 22:4; Isa 49:15.
