In 1823 he was secretary of the royal archives at Hanover, in 1842 head-  librarian at Berlin, and he died at Munich, October 7, 1876. He edited Leibniz-gesammelte Werke (Hanover, 1843 sq.), and published Ueber Leibnizen&#8217;s kirchliches ,Glaubensbekenntnuiss (Berlin, 1846):  Ueber die gedruckten Ablassbriefe von 1454 und 1455 (1857).
