Gen 10:6; 1Ch 1:8; Eze 27:10; Nah 3:9. The land of Phut is generally supposed to be the same as Libya, to the N.W. of Egypt. A broken fragment of the annals of Nebuchadnezzar mentions &#8216;the city of Phut-Yavan,&#8217; or &#8216;Phut of the Ionians&#8217; (that is Greeks). This however may refer to a different people.
