By Eusebius and Jerome (Ononzasticon, , and Fenon) the seat of the tribe is said to have been at Punon, one of the stations of the Israelites in the Wilderness; which again they identify with Phaeno, between Petra and Zoar, the site of the famous Roman copper-mines.
