In the Old Testament the words are for the most part the translation of , zudh, and , zdh, to boil up (as water), and derivatives; hence, to act proudly, to speak unauthorizedly, etc. (Deu 18:20, Deu 18:22, of the prophet; Exo 21:14; Deu 1:43; Deu 17:12, Deu 17:13; Psa 19:13, presumptuous sins (zedh, proud); compare Psa 86:14; Psa 119:21, etc.; Pro 21:24, etc.).
