{"id":78903,"date":"2022-09-29T08:42:04","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T13:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/recompence-recompense\/"},"modified":"2022-09-29T08:42:04","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T13:42:04","slug":"recompence-recompense","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/recompence-recompense\/","title":{"rendered":"Recompence, Recompense"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Recompence, Recompense<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> akin to antapodidomi, &#8220;to recompense&#8221; (see below), lit., &#8220;a giving back in return&#8221; (anti, &#8220;in return,&#8221; apo, back, didomi, &#8220;to give&#8221;), a requital, recompence, is used (a) in a favorable sense, <span class='bible'>Luk 14:12<\/span>; (b) in an unfavorable sense, <span class='bible'>Rom 11:9<\/span>, indicating that the present condition of the Jewish nation is the retributive effect of their transgressions, on account of which that which was designed as a blessing (&#8220;their table&#8221;) has become a means of judgment. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> derived, like No. 1, from antapodidomi, is rendered &#8220;recompense&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Col 3:24<\/span>, RV (AV, &#8220;reward&#8221;). <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;a reward, requital&#8221; (anti, &#8220;in return,&#8221; misthos, &#8220;wages, hire&#8221;), is used (a) in a good sense, <span class='bible'>2Co 6:13<\/span>; (b) in a bad sense, <span class='bible'>Rom 1:27<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;a payment of wages&#8221; (from mithos, see No. 3, and apodidomi, B, No. 2), &#8220;a recompence,&#8221; is used (a) of reward, <span class='bible'>Heb 10:35<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Heb 11:26<\/span>; (b) of punishment, <span class='bible'>Heb 2:2<\/span>.
