The meaning &#8220;to renounce&#8221; may therefore carry with it the thought of forbidding the approach of the things disowned. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to set apart, to appoint,&#8221; a meaning found in the papyri (apo, from, tasso, &#8220;to arrange&#8221;), is used in the Middle Voice in the sense either of &#8220;taking leave of,&#8221; e.g., <span class='bible'>Act 18:18<\/span>, or &#8220;forsaking,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Luk 14:33<\/span>, RV, &#8220;renounceth&#8221; (AV &#8220;forsaketh&#8221;).
