All meanings are common in the King James Version (e.g. 1Sa 21:8; Ecc 3:15; Ezr 8:22; 1Co 4:2), and the Revised Version (British and American) has made little change.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: International Standard Bible Encyclopedia<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<h2>Require<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to seek, seek after,&#8221; also signifies &#8220;to require, demand,&#8221; &#8220;shall be required,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Luk 12:48<\/span>; in <span class='bible'>1Co 4:2<\/span>, &#8220;it is required (in stewards).&#8221; See DESIRE, Note (2), ENDEAVOR, GO, Note (2) (a), SEEK. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to seek out&#8221; (ek, &#8220;out,&#8221; and No. 1), also denotes &#8220;to demand, require,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Luk 11:50-51<\/span>, of executing vengeance for the slaughter of the prophets (cp. <span class='bible'>2Sa 4:11<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Eze 3:18<\/span>). See SEEK. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to ask back, demand back&#8221; (apo, &#8220;from,&#8221; or &#8220;back,&#8221; aiteo, &#8220;to ask&#8221;), is translated &#8220;shall be required&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Luk 12:20<\/span>, lit. &#8220;do they require,&#8221; in the impersonal sense; elsewhere, <span class='bible'>Luk 6:30<\/span>, &#8220;to ask again.&#8221; It is used in the papyri frequently in the sense of &#8220;demanding, making demands.&#8221; <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to do, practice, perform,&#8221; is used financially in the sense of &#8220;exacting&#8221; payment, in <span class='bible'>Luk 19:23<\/span>. See EXTORT, A. <\/p>\n<p> Notes: (1) In <span class='bible'>Luk 23:23<\/span>, AV, aiteo, &#8220;to ask&#8221; (Middle Voice) is translated &#8220;requiring&#8221; (RV, &#8220;asking&#8217;); so in <span class='bible'>1Co 1:22<\/span> (Active Voice, AV, &#8220;require&#8221; (RV, &#8220;ask&#8221;). (2) In <span class='bible'>Luk 23:24<\/span>, AV, the noun aitema (see REQUEST), &#8220;that which is asked for,&#8221; is translated &#8220;as they required&#8221; (RV, &#8220;what they asked for&#8221;).
