After receiving a preparatory education, he entered the Union Theological Seminary in 1860, and, taking the full course, graduated in 1863. He was appointed  after he had been duly licensed by the New York Presbytery  a city missionary of New York, and remained in that office till he died, Oct. 6, 1863. Though his ministerial life was brief, it was not without its usefulness or good fruits.
