He graduated from Pennsylvania College in 1839, after which he was a tutor there, and for a short time studied at the Gettysburg Theological Seminary. In 1841 he was licensed to preach, and that year was pastor in Reading, Pennsylvania. For a time he preached in Chambersburg, and in 1852 became pastor of St. James&#8217;s Church, New York city. He disappeared mysteriously during a mental disturbance, as a result of impaired physical health, October 29, 1865.
