He graduated from Princeton College in 1819; studied in the Episcopal Seminary at New Haven, Connecticut; was ordained in 1823; had charge of a parish on the eastern shore of Maryland for a few months; was assistant minister of Trinity Church, New York city, from 1824 to 1838; and in the latter year rector of the Church of the Crucifixion, and of St. Thomas&#8217;s Church, Brooklyn. In 1839 he established a seminary for young ladies, called St. Ann&#8217;s Hall, at Flushing, L.I. He died in Brooklyn, February 26, 1857.
