See APPEAR, No. 2. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to shine as a torch,&#8221; occurs in <span class='bible'>Mat 5:15-16<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mat 17:2<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 17:24<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 12:7<\/span>; <span class='bible'>2Co 4:6<\/span> (twice): see LIGHT, B, No. 3. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to shine, glisten,&#8221; is used in <span class='bible'>Mar 9:3<\/span> of the garments of Christ at His transfiguration, RV, &#8220;glistering,&#8221; AV, &#8220;shining.&#8221; Cp. exastrapto, &#8220;dazzling,&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Luk 9:29<\/span>, RV. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to shine forth&#8221; (ek, &#8220;out&#8221; and No. 3), is used in <span class='bible'>Mat 13:43<\/span>, of the future shining &#8220;forth&#8221; of the righteous &#8220;in the Kingdom of their Father.&#8221; <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to shine around&#8221; (peri, &#8220;around,&#8221; and No. 3), is used in <span class='bible'>Luk 2:9<\/span>, &#8220;shone round about,&#8221; of the glory of the Lord; so in <span class='bible'>Act 26:13<\/span>, of the light from Heaven upon Saul of Tarsus. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to flash around, shine round about&#8221; (peri, and astrape, &#8220;shining brightness&#8221;), is used in <span class='bible'>Act 9:3<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 22:6<\/span> of the same circumstance as in <span class='bible'>Act 26:13<\/span> (No. 6). <\/p>\n<p>  &#8220;to shine forth,&#8221; is used figuratively of Christ upon the slumbering believer who awakes and arises from among the dead, <span class='bible'>Eph 5:14<\/span>, RV, &#8220;shall shine upon thee&#8221; (AV, &#8220;shall give thee light&#8221;). <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> denotes (a) &#8220;lightning,&#8221; (b) &#8220;bright shining,&#8221; of a lamp, <span class='bible'>Luk 11:36<\/span>.
