See ABLE, C, No. 1, MIGHTY, POSSIBLE, POWER. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;strong, mighty,&#8221; is used of (a) persons: (1) God, <span class='bible'>Rev 18:8<\/span>; (2) angels, <span class='bible'>Rev 5:2<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Rev 10:1<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Rev 18:21<\/span>; (3) men, <span class='bible'>Mat 12:29<\/span> (twice) and parallel passages; <span class='bible'>Heb 11:34<\/span>, AV, &#8220;valiant&#8221; (RV, &#8220;mighty&#8221;); <span class='bible'>Rev 6:15<\/span> (in the best texts; some have No. 1); <span class='bible'>Rev 19:18<\/span>, &#8220;mighty;&#8221; metaphorically, (4) the church at Corinth, <span class='bible'>1Co 4:10<\/span>, where the Apostle reproaches them ironically with their unspiritual and self-complacent condition; (5) of young men in Christ spiritually strong, through the Word of God, to overcome the evil one, <span class='bible'>1Jo 2:14<\/span>; of (b) things: (1) wind, <span class='bible'>Mat 14:30<\/span> (in some mss.), &#8220;boisterous;&#8221; (2) famine, <span class='bible'>Luk 15:14<\/span>; (3) things in the mere human estimate, <span class='bible'>1Co 1:27<\/span>; (4) Paul&#8217;s letters, <span class='bible'>2Co 10:10<\/span>; (5) the Lord&#8217;s crying and tears, <span class='bible'>Heb 5:7<\/span>; (6) consolation, <span class='bible'>Heb 6:18<\/span>; (7) the voice of an angel, <span class='bible'>Rev 18:2<\/span> (in the best texts; some have megas, &#8220;great&#8221;); (8) Babylon, <span class='bible'>Rev 18:10<\/span>; (9) thunderings, <span class='bible'>Rev 19:6<\/span>.
