He graduated from Columbia College, and from the General Theological Seminary in 1837; for many years was engaged in teaching; was connected with a school in Orange N.J., under the supervision of bishop Doane; taught in the Mt. Auburn Institute in Washington; founded the bishop Bowman Institute at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and became rector of Burlington College. He was rector of St. James&#8217;s Church; Eatontown, N.J., at the time of his death, September 22, 1880.
