In other passages, for , hashabh, , damah, or , zamam, indicating the result of mental activity, as in an intention or estimate formed after careful deliberation (compare Ecclesiasticus 18:25); In the New Testament, most, frequently for , dokeo, to be of the opinion, suppose, literally, seem (Mat 3:9; Mat 6:7; Luk 10:36, etc.). Sometimes, for , logzomai, to compute, reckon (Rom 2:3, etc.); sometimes, for , nomzo, literally referring to what attains the force of law (, nomos), and then, to be of the opinion; or, for , phroneo, implying a thought that is cherished &#8211; a mental habit, rather than an act (Rom 12:3; 1Co 13:11). The Greek , hegeomai, to consider, implies logical deduction from premises (Act 26:2; Phi 2:6), while in Mat 1:20; Mat 9:4, and Act 10:19, , enthumoumai, refers to the mental process itself, the thinking-out of a project, the concentration of the faculties upon the formation of a plan.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: International Standard Bible Encyclopedia<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<h2>Think<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to suppose, to think, to form an opinion,&#8221; which may be either right or wrong, is sometimes rendered &#8220;to think,&#8221; e.g., <span class='bible'>Mat 3:9<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mat 6:7<\/span>; see ACCOUNT, No. 1, SUPPOSE, No. 2. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> for which see ACCOUNT, No. 3, is rendered &#8220;to think&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Act 26:2<\/span>; <span class='bible'>2Co 9:5<\/span>, &#8220;I thought;&#8221; <span class='bible'>Phi 2:6<\/span>, AV (RV, &#8220;counted&#8221;); <span class='bible'>2Pe 1:13<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to perceive, understand, apprehend,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;think&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Eph 3:20<\/span>. See PERCEIVE, UNDERSTAND. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to suppose, surmise&#8221; (hupo, &#8220;under,&#8221; and No. 3), is rendered &#8220;to think&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Act 13:25<\/span>, AV (RV, &#8220;suppose&#8221;). See DEEM. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to reckon,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;to think,&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Rom 2:3<\/span>, AV (RV, &#8220;reckonest&#8221;); <span class='bible'>1Co 13:5<\/span>, AV, RV, &#8220;taketh (not) account of,&#8221; i.e., love does not reckon up or calculatingly consider the evil done to it (something more than refraining from imputing motives); <span class='bible'>1Co 13:11<\/span>, &#8220;I thought;&#8221; in the following, for the AV, &#8220;to think,&#8221; in <span class='bible'>2Co 3:5<\/span>, RV, &#8220;to account;&#8221; <span class='bible'>1Co 10:2<\/span> (twice), &#8220;count;&#8221; <span class='bible'>1Co 10:7<\/span>, &#8220;consider;&#8221; <span class='bible'>1Co 10:11<\/span>, &#8220;reckon;&#8221; <span class='bible'>1Co 12:6<\/span>, &#8220;account.&#8221; In <span class='bible'>Phi 4:8<\/span>, &#8220;think on (these things),&#8221; it signifies &#8220;make those things the subjects of your thoughtful consideration,&#8221; or &#8220;carefully reflect on them&#8221; (RV marg., &#8220;take account of&#8221;). See ACCOUNT, A, No. 4. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> to suppose, is sometimes rendered to think, e.g., <span class='bible'>Mat 5:17<\/span>. See SUPPOSE, No. 1. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to be minded in a certain way&#8221; (phren, &#8220;the mind&#8221;), is rendered &#8220;to think,&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Rom 12:3<\/span> (2nd and 3rd occurrences), RV, &#8220;not to think of himself more highly (huperphroneo, see No. 13) than he ought to think (phroneo); but so think (phroneo) as to think soberly [sophroneo, see Note (3)];&#8221; the play on words may be expressed by a literal rendering somewhat as follows: &#8220;not to over-think beyond what it behoves him to think, but to think unto sober-thinking;&#8221; in <span class='bible'>1Co 4:6<\/span>, some inferior texts have this verb, hence the RV, puts &#8220;go&#8221; in italics; lit., the sentence is &#8220;that ye might learn the (i.e., the rule) not beyond what things have been written.&#8221; The saying appears to be proverbial, perhaps a rabbinical adage. Since, however, grapho, &#8220;to write,&#8221; was a current term for framing a law or an agreement (so Deissmann, Bible Studies, and Moulton and Milligan, Vocab.), it is quite possible that the Apostle&#8217;s meaning is &#8220;not to go beyond the terms of a teacher&#8217;s commission, thinking more of himself than the character of his commission allows;&#8221; this accords with the context and the whole passage, 1Co. 3:1-4:5. In <span class='bible'>Phi 1:7<\/span>, AV, &#8220;to think&#8221; (RV, &#8220;to be &#8230; minded&#8221;). See AFFECTION, B, Note (1) and list there. <\/p>\n<p>  &#8220;to imagine,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;I suppose&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Joh 21:25<\/span>; &#8220;thinking&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Phi 1:17<\/span>, RV (<span class='bible'>Phi 1:16<\/span>, AV, &#8220;supposing&#8221;); &#8220;let (not that man) think,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Jam 1:7<\/span>. See SUPPOSE. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> in the Passive Voice, &#8220;to appear,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;(what) think (ye)&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Mar 14:64<\/span>, lit., &#8220;what does it appear to you?&#8221; See APPEAR, No. 1. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to be well-pleasing,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;we thought it good&#8221; in <span class='bible'>1Th 3:1<\/span>. See PLEASE. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to regard as worthy&#8221; (axios), &#8220;to deem it suitable,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;thought (not) good&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Act 15:38<\/span>. See WORTHY, B. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to reflect on, ponder,&#8221; is used in <span class='bible'>Mat 1:20<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mat 9:4<\/span>, see No. 14. Cp. enthumesis, &#8220;consideration&#8221; (see THOUGHT). <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to be overproud, high-minded,&#8221; occurs in <span class='bible'>Rom 12:3<\/span>, rendered &#8220;to think of himself more highly.&#8221; See No. 7. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to consider deeply&#8221; (dia, &#8220;through,&#8221; and No. 12), is used of Peter in <span class='bible'>Act 10:19<\/span>, in the best texts (some have No. 12). <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to throw oneself upon,&#8221; is used metaphorically in <span class='bible'>Mar 14:72<\/span>, &#8220;when he thought thereon (he wept),&#8221; lit., &#8220;thinking thereon,&#8221; but &#8220;to think&#8221; is an exceptional sense of the word (see BEAT, CAST, LAY, PUT); hence various suggestions have been made. Field, following others, adopts the meaning &#8220;putting (his garment) over (his head),&#8221; as an expression of grief. Others regard it as having here the same meaning as archomai, &#8220;to begin&#8221; (at an early period, indeed, archomai was substituted in the text for the authentic epiballo); Moulton confirms this form a papyrus writing. Another suggestion is to understand it as with dianoian, mind, i.e., &#8220;casting his mind thereon.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p> Notes: (1) In <span class='bible'>Act 26:8<\/span>, AV, krino, &#8220;to judge, reckon,&#8221; is translated &#8220;should it be thought&#8221; (RV, &#8220;is it judged&#8221;). (2) In <span class='bible'>Luk 12:17<\/span>, AV, dialogizomai, &#8220;to reason&#8221; (RV, &#8220;reasoned&#8221;), is translated &#8220;thought.&#8221; (3) In <span class='bible'>Rom 12:3<\/span>, sophroneo, &#8220;to think soberly,&#8221; RV, is, lit., &#8220;unto sober thinking,&#8221; the infinitive mood of the verb being used as a noun (AV marg., &#8220;to sobriety&#8221;): Cp.
