After his ordination he founded the novitiate of the Irish Dominican  province at Tallaght. His first notable sermon was on &#8220;Church Music,&#8221; preached in 1859 , and thereafter his preaching attracted throngs. He met with very great success while preaching and lecturing in the United States, 1871 .
