It is used frequently in Matthew, Luke and Acts; in the last it is always rendered &#8220;this day;&#8221; also in <span class='bible'>Heb 1:5<\/span>, and the RV of <span class='bible'>Heb 5:5<\/span> (AV, &#8220;to day&#8221;) in the same quotation; &#8220;today&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Heb 3:7<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Heb 3:13<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Heb 3:15<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Heb 4:7<\/span> (twice); <span class='bible'>Heb 13:8<\/span>; also <span class='bible'>Jam 4:13<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p> The clause containing semeron is sometimes introduced by the conjunction hoti, &#8220;that,&#8221; e.g., <span class='bible'>Mar 14:30<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 4:21<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 19:9<\/span>; sometimes without the conjunction, e.g., <span class='bible'>Luk 22:34<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 23:43<\/span>, where &#8220;today&#8221; is to be attached to the next statement, &#8220;shalt thou be with Me;&#8221; there are no grammatical reasons for the insistence that the connection must be with the statement &#8220;Verily I say unto thee,&#8221; nor is such an idea necessitated by examples from either the Sept. or the NT; the connection given in the AV and RV is right. <\/p>\n<p> In <span class='bible'>Rom 11:8<\/span>; <span class='bible'>2Co 3:14-15<\/span>, the lit. rendering is &#8220;unto the today day,&#8221; the emphasis being brought out by the RV, &#8220;unto (until) this very day.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p> In <span class='bible'>Heb 4:7<\/span>, the &#8220;today&#8221; of <span class='bible'>Psa 95:7<\/span> is evidently designed to extend to the present period of the Christian faith. <\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: Vine&#8217;s Dictionary of New Testament Words<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, this day an adverb (the Attic form is temeron), akin to hemera, a day, with the prefix t originally representing a pronoun.
