He removed to Knox County, Tenn., in early life, where he received a careful religious culture, and was trained in the art of agriculture; embraced religion at the early age of eight years; removed to Mississippi in 1832; for two years represented Oktibbeha County in the State Senate; was licensed to preach in 1838; and in 1842 was admitted into the Mississippi Conference, where he labored with great zeal and devotedness until his death, Jan. 18, 1861. Mr. Walton was deeply pious, had a strong, well-balanced mind, and was an example of prudence and fidelity. See Minutes of Annual Conferences of the M.E.
