an English clergyman, was born in Wales in 1802. He graduated from Trinity College, Oxford, in 1826, and became a fellow there in 1832; entered into holy orders in 1831, and was curate of Windrush, St. Mary the Virgin’s, Oxford, and Bisley, in succession; wrote tracts Nos. 80, 86, and 87 of the Pusey Tractarian series; contributed to the Lyra Apostolica, and spent his later years in retirement at Stinchcombe, Gloucestershire, where he died, May 1, 1865. He was a voluminous writer, and we name the following among his numerous works: The Cathedral; or, The Catholic and Apostolic Church of England (1838): Hymns, translated from the Parsian Breviary (1839): Thoughts in Past Years (1842): Harmony and Commentary on the Whole Gospel Narrative (1842-45; new ed. 1869- 70): The Baptistery; or, The Way to Eternal Life (1842-44): Christian Scholar (1849): The Altar; or, Meditations in Verse on the Great Christian Sacrifice (eod.): The Seven Days; or, The Old and the New Creation (1850): The Apocalypse, with Notes and Reflections (1852):The Characters of the Old Testament (1856): Female Characters of the Holy Scriptures, in a series of sermons (1859): Beginning of the Book of Genesis (1861): The Psalms Interpreted of Christ (1864-65).<\/p>\n
