In <span class='bible'>Mat 24:31<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mar 13:27<\/span> the four &#8220;winds&#8221; stand for the four cardinal points of the compass; so in <span class='bible'>Rev 7:1<\/span>, &#8220;the four winds of the earth&#8221; (cp. <span class='bible'>Jer 49:36<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Dan 7:2<\/span>); the contexts indicate that these are connected with the execution of Divine judgments. Deissmann (Bible Studies) and Moulton and Milligan (Vocab.) illustrate the phrase from the papyri. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;a blowing, blast&#8221; (akin to pneo, &#8220;to blow&#8221;), is used of the rushing &#8220;wind&#8221; at Pentecost, <span class='bible'>Act 2:2<\/span>.
