Zippor is seemingly related to the Midianite name Zipporah; thus Balak may have been a Midianite. The language of Balaam about Balak&#8217;s &#8220;house full of silver and gold&#8221; (Num 22:18) harmonizes curiously with the latest revelations concerning Midian&#8217;s metallic wealth.
