{"id":10982,"date":"2016-08-17T01:24:07","date_gmt":"2016-08-17T06:24:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/gods-elect-hear-his-call\/"},"modified":"2016-08-17T01:24:07","modified_gmt":"2016-08-17T06:24:07","slug":"gods-elect-hear-his-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/gods-elect-hear-his-call\/","title":{"rendered":"GOD\u2019S ELECT HEAR HIS CALL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt; text-align:center;line-height:normal'><b>ROMANS 8:28\u201330<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt; text-align:center;line-height:normal'><i>For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt; text-align:center;line-height:normal'><i>(Romans 8:29)<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Whenever people ask me, \u201cDoes the Bible teach predestination?\u201d I always give a resounding, \u201cYes, absolutely!\u201d No one who has ever read the Bible can doubt that the Bible teaches predestination. Exactly what is meant by \u201cpredestination,\u201d however, has been a matter of dispute.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b><i>Foreknowledge and Predestination<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Some have argued from Romans 8:29 that predestination is based on God\u2019s foreknowledge in the sense that God looked down the corridors of time and saw who would freely choose to believe, and then predestinated them. This position assumes that <i>foreknowledge<\/i> here only means \u201cknows in advance.\u201d In the Bible, however, knowledge is often used in a sense of personal intimacy, as when Adam \u201cknew\u201d Eve and she conceived a son <b>(<\/b>Genesis 4:1). God\u2019s foreknowledge is linked to His foreloving.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>We see in Romans 8:30 that everyone who was \u201cforeknown\u201d was also \u201cpredestined, called, justified, and glorified.\u201d Does God glorify everyone? Does God justify everyone? No. Clearly then, in terms of what this passage is dealing with, God does not call everyone, does not predestine everyone, and does not foreknow everyone. In Romans 8:29\u201330, \u201cforeknowledge\u201d must have the sense of intimacy and personal calling, and can refer only to God\u2019s elect.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>God\u2019s predestination does not exist in a vacuum, and it is not simply for the purpose of saving us from sin. Verse 29 shows us the goal or purpose of salvation: that we might be conformed to the likeness of His Son. Ultimately, the reason God has saved you and me is for the honor and glory of His Son, \u201cthat He might be the firstborn.\u201d The goal in creation is that God would give as a gift to His Son many who are reborn into Christ\u2019s likeness.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>CORAM DEO<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>We must know the standard to which we are being conformed. How well do you know the life and character of Christ? Examine your own life. Have you been living up to the high calling of holiness which glorifies God and imitates Christ?
