Unconditional love (agape)\u2014His love desires the best for the other person. Marriage is not about me; it\u2019s about my mate. Love says, \u201cNothing can make me stop loving you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Servant attitude and lifestyle\u2014Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ (Eph. 5:21 NIV). Ask your mate, \u201cHow may I serve you?\u201d<\/p>\n
Sacrificial friendship\u2014Friends lay down their lives for one another (John 15:13). Jesus laid down His life for the church. Say to your spouse, \u201cYou are not the enemy. You\u2019re my best friend.\u201d<\/p>\n
Honoring and esteeming your mate\u2014Jesus presents His bride as a glorious, purified mate. We honor and esteem our mates, preferring them to ourselves.<\/p>\n
Try this: How can you honor your spouse today? What can you do to honor your mate before others?<\/p>\n
Do it.<\/p>\n
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition
or conceit, but in lowliness of mind
let each esteem others better than himself.<\/i><\/p>\n
