Jesus confirmed this, \u201cFor out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks\u201d (Matt. 12:34b NIV). If it were not in our hearts, then we wouldn\u2019t say it.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Proverbs 18 reminds us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Life is only speaking what the Father tells you to say to your spouse. Death is speaking out of your flesh\u2014your hurt, anger and pain.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Speaking life is:<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Affirming your mate\u2019s character and actions.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Accepting your mate\u2019s strengths.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Encouraging your mate\u2019s destiny and potential.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Listening before you speak.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Sharing the truth in love.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Repenting quickly.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Forgiving even before your mate\u2019s repents.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Saying only what the Father tells you to say.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>What can be done if your spouse is speaking death to you? Interrupt respectfully and ask, \u201cDid the Father tell you to say that?\u201d Try this. Ask your partner to pray before she proceeds. If your partner keeps speaking death, refuse to listen.
