Tozer\u2019s vow is helpful here: Never defend yourself.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>God is our sure defense. Why would we choose to defend ourselves when God can bring His infinite resources and strength to our side?<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>However, many times our defense becomes a series of excuses that cannot replace true confession and repentance. The most direct path toward healing hurts in marriage is repentance.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Once you\u2019ve admitted guilt, ask for forgiveness. Then quit doing or saying the hurtful thing. Allow yourself to forget the offense. Ask your mate to forget it also so that it\u2019s never brought up again.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Remember that even the slightest responsibility for hurt should be admitted. You don\u2019t have to be totally wrong to confess. Repent of any part you had in causing pain or hurt.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Try this: Say, \u201cI was wrong,\u201d before you are caught.
