Imagine that\u2014a husband whose mind is drifting as his wife talks! It happens frequently.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Now it is true that, when it comes to talking to their mate on a daily basis, most wives have thousands more words to say than do their husbands. Nonetheless, one of the greatest gifts we can give each other when we\u2019re together is our undivided attention, even if we are tired of hearing the other person.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Giving your spouse your undivided attention communicates acceptance, love, caring and affirmation to her. Likewise not giving your undivided attention communicates apathy, indifference and lack of affection.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Try this: Here are some failsafe ways to insure each other\u2019s undivided attention.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Turn off the TV, CD player or computer.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Shut off the phone, beeper or cell phone.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Withdraw for the moment from children.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Get alone together in a private place.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Sit or stand face-to-face.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Make eye contact.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Focus your thoughts on the other person, not on something else.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><i>I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt; text-align:right;line-height:normal'>2 John: 12<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most common complaints I hear from wives in particular is that their husbands seem to be \u201csomewhere else\u201d when they are talking to them.
