This seems like a \u201cno brainer,\u201d but it\u2019s important to understand that your child has a choice, just as you do.<\/p>\n
Every day, your child is faced with choices that will determine whether or not they will walk in God\u2019s blessing or not. Remember, if you aren\u2019t in His blessing, then you\u2019re cursed.<\/p>\n
This may sound harsh, but it\u2019s true. Your child must learn early on to choose the blessing of God by serving only Him. The blessing comes as they keep His commands and worship only Him. The curse comes by disobedience and worship of self or another god.<\/p>\n
What commands must we keep? Jesus said it very clearly in Matthew 22 that the commandment is to love. First, love God, then love your neighbor as yourself.<\/p>\n
\u201cTeacher, which is the great commandment in the law?\u201d Jesus said to him, \u201c \u2018You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.\u2019 This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: \u2018You shall love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets\u201d <\/i>(Matt. 22:36\u201340 NKJV).<\/i><\/p>\n
As we sow love and compassion into our children, they will be equipped to love God and love themselves and their neighbors. By so doing, they will choose blessing and not curse.<\/p>\n
Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known <\/i>(Deut 11:26\u201328 NKJV).<\/i><\/p>\n
