Repentance requires not only contrition but also the conviction to stop sinning and start doing what\u2019s right.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Too often we expect God to hear and answer our prayers when we come to him with dirty hands and hearts. Clean up your act through repentance and obedience. \u201cTherefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God\u201d (2 Cor. 7:1).<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Prayer cannot excuse or nullify the effects of disobedience. Prayer turns the heart away from disobedience to weeping contrition before God.
