BECAUSE of all of the laws regarding food safety, you can\u2019t take food allotted to be served on any given day and distribute what is unused. A friend of mine owns a restaurant and at the end of business each day, they pack up their unused food and take it immediately to a shelter, staying within the confines of the legal time period given by the laws, and share with others. They\u2019d rather share the food with the homeless than discard it in a trash can.<\/p>\n
\u201cGive us this day our daily bread\u201d does not just imply a selfish kind of request. It also involves being concerned about the needs of others. This verse says, \u201cGive us.\u201d It raises the question of our personal need and the needs of others.181<\/p>\n

GEORGE Mueller of England was one of the great men of faith. He had an orphanage and ran the orphanage day by day, depending on God.<\/p>\n
Once, they ran out of food. He set the table, and brought the kids around, although there was no food there. The kids glanced at each other perplexed and then one spoke up, reminding Mr. Mueller that there was no food on the table. Mr. Mueller answered that he realized that, but that they should give thanks anyway.<\/p>\n
He prayed and thanked the Lord for His promise to give them their daily bread and to meet their need. He prayed and reminded the Lord that he was busy doing His business and that the children were hungry. At the conclusion of his prayer, there was a knock on the door. The baker up the street stood there and said that he felt led to bring his leftovers to the orphanage, as they had not sold all they had baked for the day.<\/p>\n
It is only when you have experiences like that you know that your God is real. It\u2019s only when you have experiences like that you know He can be trusted. He wants us to have a daily dependency on Him in spite of the fact that we might have plenty of choices.182<\/p>\n
