{"id":14720,"date":"2016-08-18T01:15:10","date_gmt":"2016-08-18T06:15:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/thecross\/"},"modified":"2016-08-18T01:15:10","modified_gmt":"2016-08-18T06:15:10","slug":"thecross","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/thecross\/","title":{"rendered":"THE\nCROSS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>The devoted and committed person who takes the cross and follows the Lord does not ask what the consequences will be, neither does he argue about God\u2019s plan and God\u2019s wisdom.1<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>The world crucified Jesus because they couldn\u2019t stand Him! There was something in Him that rebuked them and they hated Him for it and finally crucified <i>Was<\/i> there ever a cross that was convenient? Was there ever a convenient way to die? I have never heard of any, and judgment is not going to be a matter of convenience, either!2<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>One of the reasons we exhibit very little spiritual power is because we are unwilling to accept and experience the fellowship of the Savior\u2019s sufferings, which means acceptance of Hiscross.3<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>Oneness with Christ means to be identified with Christ, identified with Him in crucifixion. But we must go on to be identified with Him in resurrection as well, for beyond the cross is resurrection and the manifestation of His Presence.4<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>The children of God must be ready for everything the cross brings or we will surely fail the test! It is God\u2019s desire to so deal with us about all of the things that the world admires and praises that we will see them in their true light. He will treat us without pity because He desires to raise us without measure\u2014just as He did with His own Son on the cross!5<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>It is the love and the pity of God for His children that prescribes the chastening of a cross so that we may become the kind of mature believers and disciples that He wants us to be.6<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>God will crucify without pity those whom He desires to raise without measure!7<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>The cross of Christ is revolutionary, and if we are not ready to let it be revolutionary in us nor let it cost us anything or control us in any way, we are not going to like a church that takes the things of God seriously.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>People want the benefits of the cross but yet they do not want to bow to the control of the cross. They want to take all the cross can offer but they don\u2019t want to be under the Lordship of Jesus.8<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>If the cross of Jesus Christ means what it should to us and we know that we must carry it and die on it and then rise and live above it, we will have a constant desire to advance and gain spiritual ground!9<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>We talk a lot about the deeper life and spiritual victory and becoming dead to ourselves\u2014but we stay very busy rescuing ourselves from the cross. That part of ourselves that we rescue from the cross may be a very little part of us, but it is likely to be the seat of our spiritual troubles and our defeats.10<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>The cross that we want is that which will come to us from being in the will of God. It is not a cross on a hill nor a cross on a church. It is not the cross that can be worn around the neck. It must be the cross of obedience to the will of God, and we must embrace it, each believer for himself!11<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:9.0pt;line-height:normal'>What a pathetic thing to see the cross so misunderstood in sections of Christianity. Think of poor souls who have never found the evangelical meaning and assurance of atonement and justification, cleansing and pardon.
