I am a soldier, I wear my armor with pride;<\/p>\n
I stand straight and tall with my sword at my side.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m ready for service; I fight for Caesar,<\/p>\n
I owe him allegiance; I gave him my vow.<\/p>\n
Whatever he asks me, that\u2019s what I will do.<\/p>\n
For I\u2019m a proud member of the chosen few.<\/p>\n
Today I stand guard as three are crucified;<\/p>\n
There\u2019s fear in the air; many run and hide.<\/p>\n
But I do not run, my duty I do. . .<\/p>\n
Remember, I\u2019m part of the proud and the few.<\/p>\n
But when the sky became dark, and the earth did quake,<\/p>\n
Inside my strong armor, I felt my heart shake.<\/p>\n
But that day is gone; not one knows of my fears.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve told nary a man, nay, these long years.<\/p>\n
But I can\u2019t forget what I felt there that day.<\/p>\n
I try and I try, but I can\u2019t put it away.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve even heard that he didn\u2019t stay dead,<\/p>\n
Supposed to be according to what God had said.<\/p>\n
I report now for duty, a new job in Rome;<\/p>\n
I\u2019m going to be where my Caesar calls home.<\/p>\n
My job will be guarding a man they call Paul.<\/p>\n
I think that I knew him, but his name was then Saul.<\/p>\n
The facts of his crime, I am not quite sure,<\/p>\n
But as his guard, I will proudly endure.<\/p>\n
We met today, and as I was chained to Paul,<\/p>\n
I asked him if ever he was called Saul.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell yes,\u201d he said, \u201cbut that was before<\/p>\n
I came to know the one whom I now adore.<\/p>\n
His name is Jesus; He is my Lord and King,<\/p>\n
As long as I live, I will His praises sing.\u201d<\/p>\n
It all came back, and in my heart I truly knew;<\/p>\n
So I asked, \u201cIs this the one called King of the Jews?\u201d<\/p>\n
He answered me, \u201cYes, but that is not all.<\/p>\n
He is king of all who will answer His call.\u201d<\/p>\n
My pride slipped away, and I wept and I cried.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s my fault, I\u2019m sorry, I was there when He died.\u201d<\/p>\n
Paul began to explain the heart of God\u2019s plan.<\/p>\n
I listened closely; I had become a thirsting man.<\/p>\n
\u201cJesus didn\u2019t stay dead, He arose from the tomb,<\/p>\n
Dispelling the darkness, the sin, and the doom.\u201d<\/p>\n
My heart burned within me, I knew this was true.<\/p>\n
So I cried out to Jesus, \u201cLord, please make me brand new.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now I\u2019m a soldier; my head is held high.<\/p>\n
I stand straight and tall with God\u2019s Word at my side.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m ready for service; I work for the King.<\/p>\n
I give Him allegiance; His praise I sing.<\/p>\n
Whatever He asks me; that\u2019s what I will do.<\/p>\n
For I\u2019m a glad member of the chosen few.<\/p>\n
