(November 15, 1731\u2013April 25, 1800), was an English poet who pioneered the English Romantic movement. His works include: Table Talk; Truth; Expostulations; On Receipt of My Mother\u2019s Picture;<\/i> and The Castaway.<\/i> His most renowned work, published in 1785, was The Task,<\/i> which included his best-known poem, \u201cThe Diverting History of John Gilpin.\u201d He also completed a translation of Homer. In 1779, William Cowper published The Olney Hymns,<\/i> which include: \u201cOh! for a Closer Walk with God,\u201d \u201cThere is a Fountain Filled with Blood,\u201d and \u201cGod Moves in a Mysterious Way.\u201d <\/p>\n
