REASONS FOR LOVING THE LORD.<\/p>\n
A wee girlie was playing with her doll in a room where her mother was busily engaged in some literary work. When mother had finished she said, "You can come now, Alice!" The child ran to her, exclaiming, "I am so glad, for I wanted to love you so much." "But I thought you were very happy with dolly? " "Yes, mother, I was," replied the maiden, "but I soon get tired of loving her, for she cannot love me back."<\/p>\n
"And is that why you love me, because I can love you back?" mother queried. "That is one why," replied the wee philosopher, "but not the first or best one-you loved me when I was too little to love you back."<\/p>\n
What a mercy it is that God does not "soon get tired of loving" us because of no response to that love. He loves all. Yet He has a special love for those who respond to His love (Joh_16:27). He not only loved us when we were little, but much further back than that-"Before the foundation of the world."<\/p>\n
There are Seven Facts Concerning His Love. It is:<\/p>\n
1. Infinite in its character (Joh_17:23).<\/p>\n
2. Constraining in its power (2Co_5:14).<\/p>\n
3. Inseparable in its object (Rom_8:35-37).<\/p>\n
4. Individual in its choice (Gal_2:20).<\/p>\n
5. Universal in its extent (Joh_3:16).<\/p>\n
6. Unchanging in its purpose (Joh_13:1).<\/p>\n
7. Everlasting in its duration (Jer_31:3).<\/p>\n
Some Bible Testimonies as to Why Others Loved Him. Giving reasons why we, too, should love God.<\/p>\n
1. He first loved me (1Jn_4:19).<\/p>\n
2. He has heard our prayers (Psa_116:1).<\/p>\n
3. He cares, preserves and rewards us (Psa_31:23).<\/p>\n
4. He is with us as one of us (1Sa_18:16). That was why Israel loved David, and that is another reason why we love our Lord.<\/p>\n
5. He overrules everything for our good (Rom_8:28).<\/p>\n
6. He gives surprisingly both now and hereafter (1Co_2:9).<\/p>\n
